The solo guitar repertoire that Matthew performs for concerts is very diverse. The styles range from Spanish, French, Japanese to Paraguayan music. This concert will be an exploration of modern guitar repertoire, with a taste of new material from the Caribbean Islands. He will be sure to include some popular guitar favourites, such as ‘Recuerdos de la Alhambra’ by Tarrega.

IGF's Guitar in London presents Emmanuel Sowicz

During 2019 we present young talent as well as more established guitarists from around the world, including many UK debuts as well as premieres of new commissioned work. We kick off with amazing young Chilean guitarist Emmanuel Sowicz. The Chilean press has described Emmanuel Sowicz (1992) as “the next star of the guitar” (Radio Beethoven FM). In 2017 he was awarded First Prize and the Audience Award at the XLIV Dr. Luis Sigall International Music Competition in Viña del Mar – Latin America’s most prestigious classical music competition. In 2018 he became a EuroStrings Young Artist after winning First Prize at the London International Guitar Competition in October 2018. Emmanuel also performs on IGF's Young Artist Platform (YAP) in 2018/19. Programme includes J.S. Bach (trans.: Emmanuel Sowicz), Toru Takemitsu, Johann Kaspar Mertz, Domenico Scarlatti (trans.: Emmanuel Sowicz), Joe Cutler, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco
